IPL

Brighten skin tone and reduce discoloration with light-based photorejuvenation.

Pre-Treatment

Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and photosensitizing products (like retinoids and AHAs/BHAs) for one week before your session. Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin and disclose any recent chemical peels, active skincare, or medications.

Post-Treatment

Expect mild redness or warmth that typically resolves within a few hours. Pigmented spots may darken before gradually flaking off. Avoid exfoliation, heat, and exercise for 24 hours. Use gentle skincare, moisturizers, and sunscreen to support healing and improve results.

What to Expect

  • Your skin may appear slightly pink or warm, similar to mild sun exposure. Dark spots can temporarily darken and rise to the surface before naturally flaking away.

  • Expect brighter, more even-toned skin with reduced pigmentation and redness. Improvements continue over several days as treated discoloration fades.

  • IPL is often performed every 3–4 weeks, especially when addressing pigmentation or redness in a series. Your provider will adjust the plan based on your skin goals and response.

  • IPL has not been evaluated for use during pregnancy, so treatments are typically postponed until after delivery. Your provider can recommend safe alternatives for skin maintenance.

  • You’ll feel brief flashes of light that may resemble a warm snap on the skin. Most patients find the procedure quick and easy to tolerate.
